CONNECT WEST PALM BEACH FAQ

WHAT IS CONNECT WEST PALM BEACH

Connect West Palm Beach, administered by the West Palm Beach Police Department RTCC, represents a public-private partnership which allows businesses to intergrade existing security cameras with the Real-Time Crime Center using their existing internet connection and a subscription to a FUSUS platform.

Businesses in the CRA are eligible to apply for this program at a reduced cost.

WHY SHOULD I PARTICIPATE IN CONNECT WEST PALM BEACH?

Connect West Palm Beach represents a public safety partnership between the City of West Palm Beach and you (the public). The Police Department currently manages  pole cameras  throughout the City of West Palm Beach for public safety. However, now the City needs your help to increase its coverage capacity. Participating in Connect West Palm Beach allows you to play a role in public safety and sends a clear message that you want to do your part to help make West Palm Beach a safer place to live.

WHAT IS THE REAL-TIME CRIME CENTER? WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF SUCH A FACILITY?

The Real-Time Crime Center is a state-of-the-art facility operating under the West Palm Beach Criminal Instigations Division that leverages technology to enhance coordination, provide critical information to first responders in the field, and assist with investigations of criminal activity or other quality of life concerns such as severe weather-related hazards and potential street flooding.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATING IN  CONNECT WEST PALM BEACH?

Connect West Palm Beach is your opportunity to partner with the City to improve public safety efforts ranging from criminal activity concerns to fire, EMS, and severe weather events. Moreover, as a Connect West Palm Beach participant, you may choose to explore the potential for a financial incentive such as an insurance policy discount.

WHAT ARE THE COSTS OF PARTICIPATING IN CONNECT WEST PALM BEACH?

Estimated costs associated with participating in Connect West Palm Beach are listed on the Connect West Palm Beach  homepage. Payments are handled directly with FUSUS and are not managed by the West Palm Beach Police Department or the City of West Palm Beach.

The Real Time Crime Center only accepts integrated cameras with footage of exterior, public-facing views. Also, the Crime Center will NOT monitor your footage 24/7. Access to your footage is incident-based within a geographic radius of the incident.

You own any cameras that you purchase or connect to the FUSUS, and you will have access to your live footage on your mobile device, laptop, etc. through a personal account (included in the monthly  fee). The City will be able to access the footage through the cloud platform on an as-needed basis (based on incident).

WILL THE CAMERAS WORK IN THE EVENT OF DISRUPTION TO MY INTERNET CONNECTION?

Transmission of footage to the cloud is dependent on internet connectivity. However, FUSUS Core systems  do have the capability for onboard recording and allows for local recording even without connectivity.

WILL THERE BE ANY INDICATION THAT THERE ARE CAMERAS ON MY PREMISES WHICH ARE INTEGRATED WITH THE CITY?

Connect West Palm Beach decals and/or signage will be available indicating participation in the program and integration with the City of West Palm Beach/The Real Time Crime Center. It is the option of the business owner to display this signage.

IS THERE A STORAGE CAPACITY OR SPECIFIC WINDOW OF TIME DURING WHICH THE CAMERA FOOTAGE WILL BE SAVED TO THE CLOUD?

The footage will be saved to the cloud for a minimum of two days, based on the number of cameras and core storage you select.

WILL THERE BE A VARIETY OF FUSUS CORES FROM WHICH TO CHOOSE?

Yes. Currently, several FUSUS core options depending on the number of cameras your business decides to share as part of the Connect West Palm Beach Program.
